Learn to play bridge at the American Contract Bridge League education site

Currently the Reno unit has Multiple ongoing bridge classes by Bridge Instructors.  They are held at the Reno Bridge Center and TMCC, and offer an easy way for you to learn or improve at the best game in the world (All except TMCC held at 2850 Wrondel Way, Suite D). 

button1bClick on the button for in-depth Documentation and articles provided by the Club Manager (Don Rogers) relating to Duplicate Bridge Bidding and Playing Concepts.  These articles have been provided to Newbie Players for several years on a weekly basis.  Due to requests by the membership to provide these articles online, all articles are and will be available and updated on a regular basis.  Please feel free to provide feedback to the manager (don@renobridge.com).

Beginning Bridge, Newbies, New Duplicate Bridge Players: 
Please note:  these Beginner classes will “Only” take place if  enough students attend (minimum 4 students).  You Must contact the instructors by phone or Email and the he/she will coordinate a class if enough students call.  Please do NOT just come to the center expecting a class

Bridge Classes at TMCC

    Bridge II, Play of the Hand, How to Declare a Bridge Hand
    Do you know how to be declarer?  Learn how to count your winners and losers, and how to plan the play to make your contracts
    Lessons include: Making a plan, developing tricks (promotion, length and the finesse), eliminating losers (trumping and discarding), watching out for your entries, watching out for the opponents, managing the trump suit, and putting it all together.  Plus the 9th  lesson, using Jacoby Transfers

    Bridge III, Defense,  Unlocks the Secrets of Defense
    You are on defense about half the time, defense is the hardest part of the game.  Learn discipline, how to read partners cards, where to find the tricks to defend and defeat opponents.
    Lessons include:
    Opening leads, third-hand play, second-hand play, defensive signals, developing defensive tricks, interfering with declarer, making a defensive plan.  Plus the 9th  lesson on how to use the negative double when the opponents overcall.

    Bridge IV, Commonly Used Conventions
    Bridge players use many conventions, often without knowing which are useful, nor anything about properly using them, we will learn properly use of them.  Lessons include: Stayman, Jacoby Transfers, Strong hand bidding, preemptive bidding, Major suit opening bids and responses, minor suit opening bids and responses, takeout and penalty doubles, negative and responsive doubles.
